Our Story
In January 2020, Kyler and Cindy Danowski entered the world of gifting with the opening of The Bloom Co., a flower shop built entirely from passion and self-taught creativity. Just as they found their rhythm, their business was tragically lost in the devastating December 2021 tornado.
During that difficult time, Sherry Neely, co-founder of Katie J’s, reached out and offered space for the Danowskis to continue their work. What began as an act of kindness soon grew into a partnership, and over time, Kyler and Cindy took ownership of the building and eventually Katie J’s itself — carrying forward its legacy while thoughtfully shaping its future.
Today, Katie J’s continues to be Mayfield’s trusted destination for gifts and home décor, blending a 25-year tradition with fresh ideas, creativity, and heart.
Who We Are
Kyler & Cindy Danowski are the mother-son team behind Katie J’s, bringing together creativity, compassion, and a shared love for community.
Kyler is married to his husband, Daniel, and together they are raising their son, Wade. A lifelong creative, Kyler loves DIY projects, decorating, plants, movies, and great food. When he’s not in the shop, he spends his evenings volunteering at the local community performing arts center, where he directs and performs in productions throughout the year. His passion for storytelling and design is woven into every detail of the store.
Cindy is married to Barry and is the proud mom of Kyler and Katelin, and the beloved “CiCi” to grandchildren Wade, Teagan, and Fallon. A retired dental hygienist of 25 years, Cindy brings warmth, precision, and heart to everything she does. In her downtime, she enjoys relaxing in her recliner with her Persian kitty and poodle.
Together, Kyler and Cindy are honored to steward Katie J’s legacy — preserving what has made it special for 25 years while continuing to grow, evolve, and serve Mayfield with intention.
